The Definitive Guide from a Biased Knitter

Whether you are new to entrelac, have dabbled some, or love it and just want more interesting designs to try, this book is for you. For knitters who have never tried entrelac (or tried without success), the book is designed to work as a series of skills and concepts, each building on the previous, with projects along the way to try what you have learned. Knitters with some entrelac experience can review the basics and then learn options for shaping, seams and joins. For those ‘just here for the designs,’ each chapter has projects. Finally, if you are completely addicted to entrelac and want try your hand at design, information is provided to assist in understanding the challenges associated with entrelac.

Gwen’s vast teaching experience allows her to translate her in-depth knowledge of entrelac, into clear, concise, effective instructions making the technique attainable for any knitter who is interested in learning about entrelac. Discussion of not only the how, but the why help empower knitters of all levels to take lessons learned from entrelac and apply them to other projects and techniques. With dozens of different projects, extensive amounts of technical information and beautiful photography from XRX, Inc, this is a book knitters of all levels are adding to their knitting library.

But when I learned that Gwen–who is nobody's fool–was sufficiently enchanted to run on about it for a couple hundred pages, I got curious. After several weeks of cohabiting, I've decided the book gets to stay. It's empowering, and that makes it a keeper. -- Franklin Habit The Panopticon

Bortner's love of entrelac shines through on every page, and her enthusiasm is bound to entice many more knitters into giving entrelac a try. -- Carol J. Sulcoski Go Knit In Your Hat

All told, I think this is one of those books that any serious knitter would want to have on their shelf, no matter how much experience they have with entrelac knitting. Entrelac beginners like me will value the step-by-step instructions, but even experienced knitters and designers will enjoy some of the challenging patterns. -- Pam MacKenzie In Stitches
