Dear Gwen,

June is always a busy time at Knitability with the big industry wholesale show (TNNA) at the beginning of the month. But even more so this year! After TNNA, I stayed in Columbus to teach at Knitter's Connection (which is going on as I type this). Next week I am off to Asilomar for Camp Stitches and then have a church conference the following week!

I am not complaining, mind you! I love being busy, getting a chance to make new knitting friends and get reacquainted with familiar faces. But beside all that listed above, we have all SORTS of new things going on at Knitability. Read on and see what is new!

Since our last newsletter, we have been getting ready to launch several new items at the TNNA industry show which just happened last weekend. Like always, something doesn't get done before the show and this time it was the website update. But it is done now and we are ready to show you the new items we launched for Fall of 2007.

It has been a while since we offered a new entrelac project. But I got inspired just before my trip to Camp Stitches East and the result is our new Grab and Go Bag. Everyone who sees it just loves it and we have made it in two sizes. We do assume you are familiar with entrelac before you begin, so if entrelac is new to you, start with our Intro to Entrelac Class In A Bag!

In addition to the bag, we have also added a fabulous new jacket to our Skill Builder pattern line. It is classic, yet interesting! And if you are ready to learn more about adding color and pattern to your knitting, the new Class In A Bag -- Three Techniques for Color is just for you. Get a taste of mosaic, intarsia and stranded knitting with three great purse accessory projects!

Just a few days ago, our 75th Sample Stitch Kimono knit-a-long participant signed up! Congratulations to Molly from North Carolina! But just because Molly was #75, it doesn't mean you can't still join us!

As I have been traveling around the country teaching, I inevitably have someone come up to tell me that they are participating in the SSK and they just wanted to meet me in person. I just LOVE that! Participants tell me that they love the variety of stitch options each month and the accompanying lessons. And since I almost always have my Kimono with me -- it is my favorite thing to wear -- they get to see my sample as well. Of course, that is fun for both of us! So if you are a participant or if you are just following along on the blog stop by and say "HI" if I am traveling in your area!

Last July Arlis and I went on our first cruise. We had a FABULOUS time. So I am excited to announce TWO opportunities in 2008 to go cruising with Gwen!

The first cruise is happening in January 27 - February 3, 2008. This cruise is hosted by Forget Me Not Tours and is open to all KNITTERS. We will be cruising through the Eastern Caribbean just in time to beat the winter blahs! Please contact Forget Me Not Tours to sign up and ask any questions!

The second cruise is hosted by Knitability and is for NEEDLEARTS TEACHERS (and their guests). So if you are a needlearts teacher or are interested in becoming a needlearts teacher this cruise is for you. And for a limited time, you can receive a significant discount by placing you deposit before the early bird deadline.

We will be cruising the Western Caribbean May 3 - 10, 2008. Stitch Away Tours is helping us organize the event and processing all the registrations. Although you are more than welcome to bring your knitting, classes will be focused on various aspects of teaching including marketing, technology and taking your teaching to the next level. Remember this event is open to all hand- craft instructors, so invite your "crafty" friends.

Where does the time go?!? Well, May went to preparing for TNNA. But April and June are both months with Camp Stitches and my entrelac class. One of the questions that came up last April was how to deal with "bloody toes". Now this may sound a bit gruesome, but it is a term used to describe the bleeding through of the color of the previous tier at the point of the join.

Bloody toes are a "natural" occurrence when working with entrelac. It is the result of joining two pieces of knitting perpendicular to one another. When it is most noticeable is when the underlying color is significantly "stronger" than the top color. Although the color "bleed" can be minimized with practice of specific knitting techniques, that along will not completely solve the problem.

Lot of new things are happening at Knitability and we are excited. I hope you find something that excites you too!

Sincerely,
