Entrelac Knapsack & Pouch

Skill Builder Pattern

Constructed using the entrelac technique, it is a fun project to learn the entrelac stitch and results in a practical, durable backpack great for gift giving.

This pattern features two projects using the same techinque of knitting in the round from the top, with some shaping at the bottom to complete the bag without seams. If you are worried about committing to large project before you are comfortable with the entrelac stitch, make the small size first.

In addition to gaining an introduction to the basics of entrelac, you also will gain other valuable skills utilized in a variety of projects. Even shop owners can learn something new:

"I called you last week and you were kind enough to call me from the road and help me to get going with my little Entrelac bag. I'm happy to tell you it is finished and ready for felting. The entrelac technique is very cool and I can't wait to make the items I have stashed in my pattern folder that I have been putting off. I also love the backwards knitting technique. Something great to use when there are just a few purl stitches to do. THANKS for all your help and tips." -- Brooke (The Fiber Exchange)
