Entrelac Felted Handbag

Here is another fabulous felted handbag utilizing the entrelac technique. Unique entrelac construction techniques give this bag its cute shape.

Grab and Go Bag - Skill Builder

The construction of the handbag begin with the creation of a base knit in entrelac using some fun techniques. Then the knitting moves to entrelac in the round. A bit of entrelac shaping at the handle holes followed by some seed stitch and stockinette for the handles and the bag is ready to felt. Shape it, let it dry and then grab it and go!

  • Comfortable with basic entrelac
  • Familiarity working in the round with Circular Needles
  • One form of increase

Supplies / Materials:

  • 2 colors of a medium weight wool & mohair blend (approx 275 (400) yds of each color)
  • 3 - 6 yds of waste yarn
  • 5.5 mm (US #9) circular needle 20" - 24" recommended
  • 5.5 mm (US #9) Double Pointed Needles (DPN)
  • Crochet Hook size H or J
  • Tapestry needle

Finished size:

Small: Approximately 7” x 7” x 10” after felting
Large: Approximately 10” x10” x 12” after felting
