Oven Mitt Pattern
Ready to move beyond scarves and other
simple shapes, but most projects are too overwhelming?
The oven mitt utilizes many of the same techniques found in
other projects, but is smaller in scale and much less
stressful. After all, it is just an oven mitt!
Felted Oven Mitt - Skill Builder
Knit a single oven mitt
while learning classic mitten construction. Major skills covered
are working with double pointed needles, increases,
decreases and picking up stitches -- everything you need to
know after knit and purl. Offered for many years as a class, this is a great learning project that also makes a great gift!
"I took your class at Stitches East and learned a TON! Thank you very much for your clear, enthusiastic teaching and excellent pattern. I just wanted to let you know that I added a crochet loop to the cuff of the oven mitt before felting it. This way, the mitt can hang on a hook in the kitchen instead of being stuffed in a drawer, and since it is a real work of beauty I want it to see the light of day. I plan to make a few more." -- Elizabeth
Once you have practiced your new skills you can move on to more complex patterns including several styles of felted mittens or classic styled jacket.
