What is New for Knitability
Two years ago, a sweater was born at one Camp Stitches at Lake Junaluska and completed at the following Camp Stitches at Asilomar. Each time it has been worn or shown in class there was a call for the pattern, so the long awaited pattern release of Lake Monterey is here.
In addition the popular cable pattern, Brenna's Vision now also features pictures of the funnel neck, long body version.
After many requests, it is finally available. Lake Monterey is entrelac done in a completely different way, one yarn, one color, two textures.
The result is a beautiful sweater that is perfect for warmer weather or can be used as a layering piece for the cooler months. The single color allows the sweater to be dressy or casual and the silk/wool blend makes the fabric so luscious, you don't ever want to take it off. Short sleeves and raglan shaping make this a sweater that looks good on most bodies. $10 for the pattern.

The inspiration for this design has been floating around in my head since 1989 when I saw this great sweater worn by a one-time character on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The character, Brenna, was part of a culture that arose from Ireland. Since that time I have played with various yarns, but the cable patterns were always the same. The center panels feature extremely interesting intertwined cables while the remaining body and sleeves are formed in a braided cable rib fabric. Although originally shown in a cropped, off-the-shoulder style, a longer funnel neck version is also pictured. $10 for the pattern.
